Mechanism of Action
Tetracyclines pass the cell membrane and bind to the 30S ribosomal subunit interfering with the tRNA/mRNA interaction and ultimately inhibiting protein synthesis.

Doxycycline hyclate is a broad spectrum antibiotic primarily targeting bacteria responsible for causing respiratory infections including Mycoplasma pneumoniae and Haemophilus influenzae. Doxycycline has been found to be effective against certain β-lactam resistant strains of VRE or vancomycin resistant Enterococcus; a glycopeptide antibiotic resistant "superbug."
